Hobbies
Many other topics interest me besides physics, from restoring old radios, and giving them back their old voice, to fishing, painting, and collecting elements of the periodic table. I was quite lucky for many years to have Iurie Cojocaru as my neighbour. He was a painter, and for 6 years, we met up once a week for 2 hours in which he taught me how to paint, draw and sometimes even sculpt. He unfortunately moved a few years ago, but my passion for painting remains strong to this day. I find it extremely relaxing to just sit down and pour out my imagination on a canvas, trying to realistically convey the beauties of nature! Speaking of nature, there is nothing more rewarding for me than a sunny day in which I get to go out fishing with my father, on a riverbank or some beautiful lake, enjoying nature and savouring the reward of the occasional fish that tightens my line!
On the more scientific side of my hobbies, I love doing all sorts of chemical reactions using household materials to extract pure elements to add to my growing collection and fulfill my goal of owning every element in the periodic table (Well, every element that wouldn’t kill me of course 😁 ) !
I am also really passionate about old, vintage electronic equipment, in particular, old radios. I am always present at antique fares, endlessly looking for a good bargain on an interbelic radio that I can then restore. I find it extremely rewarding to see a radio spring to life after countless hours of working on it, acknowledging the many decades that have passed since its creation, and imagining all the famous voices of historical figures that once spoke through its speaker.
